Werner House 11424 – 100 Avenue NW
Edmonton, Alberta T5K0J4
Located on historic Victoria Avenue (100th Avenue) the Werner House is significant for its association with prominent Edmonton businessman, J.A. Werner.
J.A. Werner established the Werner Hardware Company in 1906, a business that supplied tools and materials to Edmonton’s contractors and builders.
The Werner Hardware Company was one of Edmonton’s longest running businesses, and J.A. Werner is known as one of Edmonton’s pioneer merchants.
The Werner House is significant as it is representative of the scale and quality of residences built in Oliver during the Great Depression. Built in 1931, the residence reflects the professional and business class aspirations for a better quality of life. The location proved to be convenient for working professionals who needed access to the city centre for work and commerce.
The Werner House was fully restored in 2003 by Mr. Ken McRobbie of the McRobbie Design Group Inc and we are proud to be part of its rich history.
